We want to provide a little bit of information on how this event is going to take place.
First of all, REGISTRATION for those individuals who are going to Didsbury on Thursday will take place on WEDNESDAY evening at the Hyatt (2 October 2024). The timing of registration is still being worked out, but we wanted to let you know that you will have to register on WEDNESDAY NIGHT (2 October 2024) in order to get on the bus Thursday morning. This will be your overall convention registration, NOT your sign in for Didsbury Day. That will take place on THURSDAY morning when you get on the bus.
When you arrive at the designated loading location on Thursday morning, at least FIFTEEN MINUTES before the bus is scheduled to leave, you will check in with a volunteer at the door of one of the buses. Once you are checked in you will board the bus and find a seat. It will only be once you board the bus that you will be given your Didsbury Day packet. This packet will include your “Taste of Didsbury” lunch tickets and MOST IMPORTANTLY your wristband. This wristband will be color coded and will have your time slot for LUNCH as well as the Wynonna Earp Showcase. Without this wristband you will not be able to enter the lunch or Showcase locations. This is important, the timeslot on your wristband is the ONLY time you will be able to enter the Showcase! If you miss your window you will not be allowed entry at another time. For safety reasons the Showcase can only hold a certain number of people at one time. So we, and the Town of Didsbury, have broken everyone up into groups. The same holds true for lunch, do not miss your lunch slot. Please pay attention to the time and know when you need to be in those two locations. Didsbury Day is spread out throughout the Main Street area of the town. You will need to walk from location to location so take that into account. Earptopia does not have any way of tracking down guests who are in danger of missing their time slot windows. Ticket holders are responsible for making sure they are on time.
With the exception of lunch and the Showcase, Didsbury Day is a self-paced day. You can move as quickly or as slowly through the Scavenger Hunt and Selfie-Stations as you wish. Please take into account that there will be designated selfie-spots for the most popular locations (Shorty’s, The Municipal Building, etc…) so you will have to wait in line to get a clear and uninterrupted photo. Please be nice to the volunteers and Town of Didsbury staff that will be in these locations. Additionally, please remember that all participants need to cycle through these locations. While we don’t want to rush you, please be mindful of your time. If you complete the scavenger hunt and you have visited all of the selfie-spots before the end of the day, please take some time to visit the Didsbury Museum as well as the town’s many restaurants and coffee shops. We recommend that you take your time and enjoy the Didsbury Day experience. How often will you get the chance to walk where Wynonna walked? Savor it. Enjoy it. Don’t rush.
Please note, as Didsbury Day draws to a close there will be a short presentation by the Town of Didsbury staff and dignitaries at the Municipal Complex (where you ate lunch). Earptopia requests your presence at this presentation. In order to facilitate all ticket holders getting to this location on time the Showcase and other selfie-stations will close 30 minutes prior to the presentation. At that time, please make your way back to the Municipal Complex. As you enter the complex you will be given your Didsbury Day commemorative memorabilia.
Don’t forget to brush up on all the day’s offerings over on our Didsbury Day page.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- Didsbury Day is a PRIVATE event. Earptopia and the Town of Didsbury have gone to great lengths to ensure that ticket holders have an AMAZING time exploring “Purgatory.” As such, non-ticket holders will not be allowed access into the Wynonna Earp Showcase or the “Taste of Didsbury.” Additionally, MANY of the locations around town that were used in filming of Wynonna Earp will be designated as selfie-spots. This means that they will be restricted access so that guests can take clear and uninterrupted photographs/selfies. Non-ticket holders will not be allowed within a certain distance of the selfie-spots and will not be allowed to block the view or access of ticket holders.
- Didsbury Day is 90% outside. The weather in Alberta in early October can vary greatly. Please be prepared for ALL conditions. This includes cold temperatures, rain, and snow. Please bring proper clothing and an umbrella JUST IN CASE.
- The Bus: Please note, if you do not get on the bus you will not get your wristbands and lunch tickets. If you are a ticket holder and somehow find yourself arriving in Didsbury independent of the chartered busses then you will not be given your wristbands until all of those individuals who are on the bus have been briefed on the day’s events, departed the busses, and headed into town. This means you MAY MISS your Showcase time. Earptopia will not make time exceptions for individuals who are not on the bus. If you miss your time, you miss your time. Period. This also means you will not have access to the selfie-spots or the scavenger hunt until you have obtained your Didsbury Day packet.
- Front of the bus seating is limited. Please contact us if you wish to sit in one of these seats.
- If you have read nothing else in this newsletter, please read this: DO NOT MISS THE BUS. Do whatever it takes to make it to the bus on time on Thursday morning.
